Ryan doesn't like to spend a lot of time on introductions, mainly because he's never been very good at them. What do people say in these situations? "Hello" doesn't quite cut it, but a full tea service seems excessive.

Puns on the title notwithstanding, the main aim of this column will be for me—Ryan "the middle initial is where my power comes from" Span—to write about my experience with fiction. Reading it, creating it, editing it and publishing it, there's a lot to write about and a hundred different topics to choose from. I've been in the business a few years, and I know writing itself is a long journey, unless your parents just happen to own a publishing company. In this column I hope to shed some light on the whats, the whys, the hows and the oh-dear-gods.

From week to week THIRD PERSON PERSPECTIVE will feature advice columns, op-ed pieces and pure opinion about the art, the craft and the science of writing. Whatever the case, interesting things will (hopefully) always be said. And written.
